Would you like a robot for your room?
It could hang up your clothes, make your bed and even do your homework.
You could tell your robot what to do and it would do it.
The day when this will be possible may not be very far in the future.
Today, robots already work in many factories.
They do a lot of the jobs that people think are boring to do.
Some of the robots that work in factories have five or six hands so they can do the work much faster than people.
Robots also do the jobs that are impossible or too dangerous for people to do.
For example, robots go to other planets and to the bottom of the oceans.
Robots can have eyes, ears and brains.
But their eyes may be on their stomachs, their ears on their hands, and their brains on their feet.
The robot doesn't have to look like a person.
A robot's brain, ears and hands are really just computers.
The computer tells the robot what to do.
Sometimes a person can sit in another room and be the "brains" of the computer.
The person tells the computer what to do.
So the next time your parents tell you to tidy your room or do your homework, tell them you need a robot to help you.
Of course you'll have to tidy your room and do your homework anyway, but it's nice to dream.
